Greengill Bunk Barn

Greengill Barn is a bunk barn for 16 with modern facilities recently converted from a traditional stone barn.

The special feature, unmatched elsewhere, is the splendid double storey recreation room ideal for parties. It contains comfortable sofas, armchairs, a pool table, a library, table tennis and card table. Free unlimited superfast WiFi. Powerful sound system. Plug in your own iPod or phone, or bring CDs. Optional LED lights flash to the music. Subtle indirect lighting reflects from the stone walls, and gives the room a warm evening glow. During the day light pours in through the south facing double glass doors and large skylights. Level access direct from the road. Bring your own food, drink and music, or order it in advance. Effective night storage heating with booster plus extra radiators in cold weather.

Downstairs, but also at ground level on this “bank barn”, is a well equipped kitchen and dining room for 20 with a large five ring electric cooker and double sink. Two fridges, freezer, two microwaves, large toaster and two kettles.

A door from the dining room connects to the three Mira Sport electric showers, two loos and two washbasins. A separate room contains a third loo, washbasin, full length mirror and power point.

The two bunk rooms are one above the other on the end of the building behind sound deadening fire doors. The bunks are solid and wooden with deep mattresses. 10 are 3’ wide, and 6 are 2’6” wide. —Both rooms have direct outside exits in case of emergency.

Secure bike store and bike washing facilities for cyclists.

If you don’t want to cook, you can buy a Full English Breakfast and takeout sandwiches in the Mill Yard Café five minutes walk away. The Café also does pizzas on Friday nights, and bistro dinners on Saturday with private dining room for special occasions and even a sofa cinema. The Crown Inn serves real ale and does evening meals at weekends. Other pubs and restaurants not far away.
